Running a Business With Children at Home: The Summer Holiday Juggle

Running a Business With Children at Home: The Summer Holiday Juggle

Six weeks.

When you are a child, the summer holidays can feel like the best six weeks of the year.

When you are a parent running a business from home, they can feel slightly different!

You love having the children around. You want to make memories with them. You want days at the beach, trips out, lazy mornings, ice creams and time together without constantly watching the clock.

But your business doesn't stop because school has.

Clients still need you. Emails still arrive. Deadlines still exist. Invoices still need sending. Meetings still need attending.

And suddenly you find yourself trying to fit a full working day into pockets of time between everything else.

Early mornings before everyone wakes up.

A quick hour while the children are occupied.

Emails from the car while you wait outside an activity.

Opening the laptop again after bedtime because you didn't quite manage to finish what you needed to do.

It can be exhausting.

And then there is the guilt.

When you're working, you feel as though you should be spending time with the children.

When you're with the children, part of your brain is thinking about the work waiting for you.

It can feel as though you are constantly being pulled in two directions and never giving either one quite enough.

If that sounds familiar, you are far from alone.

Finding balance during the school holidays isn't necessarily about creating a perfect timetable where every hour is accounted for. Family life rarely works like that.

It is about recognising that you only have so much time and energy available, and deciding where you really need to spend it.

As a business owner, there will always be things that need you personally.

But there are probably plenty of things that don't.

Could somebody else manage your inbox?

Could your admin be taken care of?

Could someone organise appointments, update documents, chase information or keep on top of the day to day tasks that quietly consume hours of your week?

Delegating those jobs doesn't make you any less involved in your business.

It gives you the freedom to be more present where you choose to be.

Because those summer days with your children matter.

Your business matters too.

It shouldn't always feel as though succeeding at one means compromising the other.

At Personal Ascensions, we understand the juggle because we understand that there is a real person and a real family behind every small business.

Sometimes you don't need to work harder, stay up later or become better at multitasking.

You just need someone reliable beside you who can say, "I've got that."

If you're trying to keep your business moving while still having the time and energy to enjoy family life, let's talk. Tell Personal Ascensions what is taking up your time and we'll help you work out what we can take off your plate. Because you shouldn't have to choose between being present for your family and building a business you're proud of.
